5 Powerful Reasons To Be Part Of A Successful Community

I wanted to write a post about the benefits of belonging to a successful community of like-minded people.  We often hear the word “solopreneur”, but when you learn the background of that person, you’ll find they’re part of mentor groups and societies. What’s more, they are very much part of a community of similar people who support each other’s journey on the way to success.

One of the best parts for me, of being a member of such a dynamic, positive and go-getting group of like-minded people is the sense of accountability and general support I get and can give.  As humans, we gravitate towards community, because, from an evolutionary standpoint, there is safety in numbers.  A successful community helps us overcome our fear of failure. Belonging to a community of like-minded souls also helps us overcome our fear of success – yes it exists!

As an entrepreneur, there are 5 main reasons to gain from the power of community.

Knowledge

Have you ever been to a meeting when someone asks a question that is so relevant, but you didn’t even think of asking?  When we pool our resources, we learn from each other.  Not everyone knows the same stuff.  And because we’re all wired slightly differently, we pick up on different pieces of information that another person might have previously ignored.

Connections

The larger my network becomes, the more people I have the opportunity of meeting as a result.  And connections are so vital! Since the beginning of 2017 I’ve focused on creating new business opportunities as well as connecting with people I didn’t previously know.  As a result, opportunities have come my way that I couldn’t ever have dreamed of.  I’ve met, and continue to meet, some incredible people.  And the best part is that these new connections I’ve made are with like-minded entrepreneurs.  We need to branch out socially and professionally if growing our businesses is a priority.  And you never know who you might meet.  It’s exciting and very rewarding.

Resources

By growing the amount of people we know, we also increase our chances of gaining access to information and tools that can help to grow our businesses. So many times I’ve spoken to someone about a challenge I’m facing.  Whether it’s with social media, marketing or automating some of my systems, people help.  My connections have suggested a piece of software or someone they know who can help me achieve my goal more efficiently and more effectively.

Accountability

When we are part of a successful community we can help others stay accountable by being part of their journey.  What’s more, during the times when you’re feeling down or tired or just don’t know which way to turn next, the fact that you have people keeping a watchful eye on you, really helps to fuel the flames to keep you moving forward in your business.  There are days when I wake up and have so much to do that spending time on self-development or fitness would be easy to ignore.  But because I have a sense of accountability, I don’t let that happen.  I know that there are folk out there waiting for my workout videos.  I know too, that if I don’t allow myself to grow, I can’t be a good help to others on their own journeys.  A sense of accountability gives me such a rewarding sense of responsibility.  It helps me grow and also helps me to promote the growth and development of the people I am able to help.

Support

Being part of a successful community gives you support.   When you’re running your own business, especially when you’re a solopreneur, you can feel very isolated.  Particularly as a single mum, every decision I make in my life and business, is mine alone.  I find so much support from my community when I reach out to them with a problem.  Many of them are on a similar journey as me and it is a huge comfort to know that we have each other’s backs.

When you are part of a successful community you benefit in so many ways.  Both practically and emotionally, you gain and give so much when you belong to a group of like-minded souls.
