How to Easily Boost your Immune System Health

What do you think of first when it comes to supporting your immune system?  Do you think of:

  • Adding vitamins to your diet?
  • Getting more sleep?
  • How to eat clean?
  • Trying to stress less?

You may be aware that it’s a combination of factors which goes towards helping us maintain a healthy immune system.  But one of THE MOST IMPORTANT things we can do to support our immune system is by getting the RIGHT nutrition.

70%-80% of our immune system is found in our DIGESTIVE SYSTEM!

This is an important factor to understand for new-born babies who are breastfed – the mother’s milk contains good bacteria which help to colonize the gut of the new-born and help it to ward off allergies and other immune system problems.

When we take antibiotics, we kill off our healthy gut flora which is why it’s so important to follow a course of anti-biotics with a course of healthy bacteria such as multi-dophilus or to ensure your diet contains a healthy portion of pro-biotics which help to sustain healthy gut flora.

When our immune system is strong, we fight off not just viruses which can lead to the common cold, flu and other nasties, but also the bad boys like meningitis and cancer cells.  When our immune system is working optimally, our bodies do what they need to keep us healthy.

Obviously, your entire immune system is important, but it’s your digestive system that plays a major role in your ability to stay healthy.

So how do we keep our guts healthy?

Probiotics!  Probiotics are live microorganisms that help our digestive systems work optimally. To get more probiotics into your diet, you can add fermented foods such as sauerkraut, Greek yoghurt and kombucha (make sure to avoid the sweetened versions).  And if you’re like me, sauerkraut actually turns my stomach, so that’s a tricky one to eat.

Another way is to take a probiotic supplement, but here’s a warning, not all probiotics are created equal. There are good ones and there are some which quite frankly shouldn’t be allowed on the shop floor.  Also, many probiotic supplements require refrigeration and contain dairy products which is not ideal if you have dairy sensitivities.  What’s more, transporting products which need refrigeration is inconvenient.

Our internal gut symphony

When it comes to maintaining optimal health, it’s not just one thing alone which does the job. As with all our bodily functions, our digestive system relies on interaction between many factors for optimum health.  We need enzymes, vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, fibre, protein, pre- and pro-biotics and adaptogen herbs.  They all work together to make sure we get what we need from our food and then have those nutrients effectively delivered to the various parts of our bodies which need them.

Nutri-shake that contains everything you need

I drink a nutri shake daily because it contains all of these vital components to keep my immune system working well.  It’s in powder form and comes in individual sachets so is ideal for when I’m on the go. It curbs sugar cravings and has helped me kick my wine habit.  It helps to put our digestive systems into the alkaline which is GOOD! A slightly alkaline tendency means our cells are oxygenated and healthy. And healthy, oxygenated cells means that cancer cells cannot exist!  Cancer likes sugar and an acidic environment.  Keep your digestive system healthy and you stand a good chance of enjoying good health.

It also forms part of our daily nutrition mindset programme which has helped people lose over 100 lbs and KEEP IT OFF! There’s no restriction, no calorie counting, no beating yourself up for giving yourself a treat.
